USA — Two Colorado Springs television stations were reporting Wednesday night that the Black Forest fire chief has said that this summer’s deadly fire was intentionally set.
KRDO-TV, Channel 13 quoted Fire Chief Bob Harvey as saying “yes, it was human caused and appears intentional.” Channel 11 also reported that officials now say they believe the fire was intentionally set.
Contacted by The Post late Wednesday, fire officials said the chief was in a meeting and unavailable to comment.
The fire started on June 11 and burned for more than one week, killing two people and destroying more than 500 homes.
The fire is considered to be the most destructive fire in Colorado history. causing more than $85 million in damage.
Investigators had previously said that lightning had been ruled out as a cause of the fire.
