Spain — Following months of negotiations, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment signed a firm purchase agreement for one Bombardier 415 amphibious aircraft at a ceremony in Madrid, Spain on 17 October. Bombardier stated that the contract is valued at approximately US$37 million, based on the list price, and includes spares, engineering support services and product enhancements. Delivery of the aircraft, which will be used for aerial fire fighting, is expected in late November.

Michel Bourgeois, president, specialised and amphibious aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace, commented: “Bombardier and the Spanish Government have enjoyed a long-standing relationship dating back more than 40 years. This close working relationship and Spain’s technical inputs have facilitated significant product improvements throughout the years and I look forward to the government of Spain’s continued contribution to the success of the Bombardier 415 programme.”

According to the manufacturer, the Spanish government owns the world’s largest fleet of amphibious aircraft, including 14 CL-215T, five CL-215 and now, four Bombardier 415 aircraft, ‘the latest version of the world’s only purpose-built firefighting amphibious aircraft’.
