USA — A fire fighting air tanker was damaged in an Aug. 17 landing at Ronan airport.

The tanker ran off the runway and into a ditch, according to Federal Aviation Administration documents.

“I don’t know what the monetary damages were, but as far as injuries no one was hurt,” said local pilot Monte Bear, who was not at the airport at the time of the accident, but was familiar with what happened.

The plane’s nose went into the ground and damaged its propeller during the incident, Bear said.

The tanker is one of three or four that use the Ronan airport as a loading area to fight wildfires during the summer season.
