India — The Forest Department of Himachal Pradesh, a north Indian state, and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have developed a new portal for the HP State Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA).

The portal is aimed at providing information on governance, planning and implementation of CAMPA. It would help in checking wildfires by sending SMS-based alerts to the lowest field functionaries.

The portal has brought all the forests in Himachal Pradesh under a spatial platform.

This would provide decision making tools such as climate vulnerability of landscapes and forest fire vulnerability based on last 15 years data.

The SMS gateway would provide the facility to the Forest Department to send bulk message regarding specific services to the group of users from forest guard to the Headquarters level.
