Forest fires in Russia reach about 53,000 hectares radius

Russia — Over 170 forest fires on an area of about 53,000 hectares are raging in Russia. Paratroopers of the Federal Forestry Agency were dispatched in two regions, the Federal Forestry Agency told Itar-Tass on Monday.
The agency reported that 176 forest fires are raging in Russia on an area of over 53,000 hectares, including nine fires in Yakutia on an area of over 44,000 hectares, 56 wildfires in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous area on an area of about 4,000 hectares, 34 wildfires on 1,500 hectares in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous area, 31 fires in the Krasnoyarsk territory on an area of over 1,400 hectares and 30 forest fires in Komi on an area of 1,300 hectares, a source in the Federal Forestry Agency said.
The agency reported that the fire situation is complicated by strong winds in several regions.
As many as 133 paratroopers of the aviation forest security service have been working in Yamal since Sunday, 50 more paratroopers were dispatched in Yakutia on Monday. In particular, the agency reported that last weekend the forces of airborne firemen and local residents have warded off the threat of the fire spreading on the settlement Tom in the Izhma district of the Republic of Komi. The Russian forest supervising agency reported that 14 paratroopers from the Syktyvkar base of aviation and ground protection of the forests, who stopped the fire from spreading towards the settlement, were landed on the fire site on July 27. The rescuers have actively assisted to the local residents; they were making the safety belts and were cutting the forest, which posed danger.
