Australia — SMOKE from bushfire burning in Victoria has prompted a health warning in South Australia.
Chief medical officer Professor Paddy Phillips said smoke particles could aggravate existing health problems such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema, asthma and heart conditions.
“If you know you are susceptible to bushfire smoke it is advisable to stay indoors, with the doors and windows closed, as much as possible until the smoke clears,” he said.
The Country Fire Service said smoke from the bushfire near Edenhope had drifted across parts of the Barossa Valley, the Adelaide Hills and metropolitan Adelaide and had also been reported as far north as the Flinders Ranges.
