Australian — A Tasmanian fire fighter has been injured fighting a bushfire in the state’s Derwent Valley.
The Forestry Tasmania (FT) worker has injured an arm and shoulder while fighting the fire that started at Lake Repulse.
An FT spokesman said it appeared the man had stumbled on steep ground and had fallen.
He has been evacuated from the area and taken for medical treatment.
State Government owned timber agency FT is involved in the battle against Tasmanian’s devastating fires along with the Tasmania Fire Service and National Parks and Wildlife.
Authorities believe it is unlikely that any deaths have occurred in the fires, which have destroyed around 130 properties.
Injuries have also been minimal.
