Firefighters Kept Busy In Tutong & Belait

 Brunei Darassalam -Tutong – Several bushfires have broken out in Belait and Tutong Districts amid the dry spell, keeping the firefighters there busy in the past two days.

A fire destroyed parts of bushes near the government flats in Jalan Sungai Besar located close to the Muda Hashim Secondary School Tutong at around 3pm yesterday.

Thick smoke could be seen a few kilometres away and the nearby residents called the Fire and Rescue Department for assistance.

The fire was put under control by firefighters with the help of the residents.

Meanwhile, a forest fire occurred on Thursday afternoon near the government barracks at Jalan Singa Menteri in Kuala Belait. The forest fire caused the housing area to be covered in thick smoke.

A team of 11 firefighters in two fire engines from Belait Fire Station rushed to the scene after receiving emergency call from the residents.

Meanwhile few hours after the fire at Jalan Singa Menteri, two forest fires occurred at Lumut area and another one near the Sungai Liang Agriculture Station.
