China — TAIYUAN – Firefighters put out a fire Wednesday that had been blazing in a forest in Shanxi province for nearly two days, according to local authorities.

The fire started around 6 pm Monday in the forest in Jinzhong city in central Shanxi. By 9 am Wednesday, more than 3,000 people had been mobilized to extinguish it, a provincial government spokesman said.

It is still unclear what caused the fire and how much forest had been burned.
