USA — Alaska — FAIRBANKS — The state of Alaska is making it easier for people with a spare bulldozer to rent it out to during wildfire season.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported Division of Forestry officials have set up a new website that lets people offer heavy equipment or other services for fighting spring and summer wildfires.
The website replaces a paper-based process that included a 22-page form.
Fire support forester Marin Maricle says the website — https://dnr.alaska.gov/eera — was set up to streamline the process for both potential vendors and state officials.
He says fire managers will be able to pull up a map of Alaska and instantly see what equipment is available near fires.
He says it should also encourage more people to offer equipment for rent.
