Serbia — PRIJEPOLJE — A forest fire has been burning for three days near the Mileevka River canyon and the village of Miloev Do in southwestern Serbia.
Firefighters and local rangers have for the past three days been trying to put out the fire that broke out near the Mileevka River Canyon nature reserve.
The terrain is extremely inaccessible and the fire is spreading toward the canyon walls despite our efforts. If we do not manage to localize the fire and it spreads toward the canyon, only the rain will be able to put it out, ranger Munir Malagić told Beta news agency.
The fire has not spread across the large part of the forest but the firefighters are carrying water on their backs due to inaccessible terrain, which is significantly slowing down the operation.
Firefighters were struggling for days to put out a forest fire in almost the exact place about a year ago.
