China — Over 1800 firefighters supported by local residents have been battling forest fires in a north China province for the past two days.

The fire began in a village in the Hebei province before it spread rampantly.

While the north and west sides of the fire have been controlled, firefighters are still working to extinguish the east side of the blaze, Xinhua reported.

More firefighting equipment has been sent to the site of the blaze, a local official said.

Over 1,800 firefighters and 2,000 local residents are already struggling to put the blaze out.
