Russia — So that smoke coming from Central Park? It’s an actual brush fire! According to Notify NYC, “FD is on scene of a brush fire in Central Park. 5th Ave btwn 107th St and 103rd St is closed. Expect traffic delays.”

The fire was reported after 2 p.m. WABC says, “The fire is at the section of the park knows as The Mount, which is where organic material is collected and composted by the Conservancy. The fire was 20 feet high at its but has since been put under control.”

It’s not clear what started the fire, but it has been very dry—there was a huge brush fire in NJ on Wednesday and a big one at Fresh Kills (aka the dump) on Staten Island at the beginning of the week.
