USA– The new fee of up to $150 per habitable building applies to rural homeowners where the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection provides wildland fire prevention services. About 800,000 rural property owners in the state will receive bills around mid-2012.
Use our interactive map to see see if your home is in an area subject to the charge. Areas affected are shaded red.
Note: The new fee applies to lands designated “state responsibility areas,” which exclude Federal lands and all cities. This map only shows affected areas in the Sacramento region because of technical limitations. Fee areas shown are for Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties, and portions of some adjoining counties. In addition, the map is subject to limitations of scale and may not be accurate at extreme zoom levels.
