USA — Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a brush fire inside a West Volusia cemetery today, a county spokeswoman said.
The fire broke out about 2:28 p.m. inside Osteen Cemetery near Deltona, said spokeswoman Pat Kuehn.
The fire rapidly grew to about a half-acre in size within minutes. Kuehn said no grave markers were damaged inside the burial grounds.
“It was a fast-moving grass fire, and firefighters on scene were able to knock it down quickly,” she said.
At least two other wildfires were reported nearby within 15 minutes of each other but they were also quickly contained, Kuehn said.
