USA — Two firefighters have been burned while helping battle a grass fire near Pocasset.

Grady County District One Fire Chief Jimmy Hall said Thursday Pocasset firefighters were hurt after they answered an emergency call about a fire that started while a resident was cutting grass. Hall says the men were hurt after Amber firefighters were called in to help about 2:10 p.m.

Hall said he didn’t know the extent of the firefighters’ injuries. No names were released.

Hall says there were no other reports of injuries and no structural damage.

He says the fire was contained by later afternoon and crews were putting out hot spots. Between 50 and 60 acres were burned.
