USA — The 9 On Your Side newsroom along with 911 dispatchers received dozens of calls Sunday night about a thick haze seen in the air in southern Arizona. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Department confirms that the haze is smoke from the Monument Fire.
Late Sunday, the Catalinas couldn’t be seen because of the smoke. High winds quickly pushed the smoke to several nearby cities in southern Arizona. More mild winds are expected on Monday which should lessen the impact of the smoke.
Those with breathing problems are urged to stay indoors, and close their windows and doors.
