Australia: A community committee says input from the public will be valuable as it refines a new plan for bushfire management in northern Victoria.

It was the first time the public were invited to comment on the Loddon Mallee Fire Plan and 17 submissions were made in the two-month consultation period, which closed last week.

The committee’s Darryl Glover says the group expects to present a final plan by the end of next month.

“Look, certainly all the comments received were insightful and all will assist us in improving the plan,” he said.

“Probably a simple example is, we had a comment made with regard to biodiversity management legislation, and we’ve actually added some extra things in there because of that point that was made.”
