Norway — Fire fighters finally gained control over a major forest fire between Kvinesdal and Flekkefjord in the county of Vest-Agder late Sunday evening.
– Assistance from a fire-fighting helicopter in addition to a sudden heavy rain shower finally gave us the upper hand, says Flekkefjord assistant fire chief Rolf Salvesen to NRK.
The fire covered an area of two square kilometres, but no homes were threatened by the flames.
With most of the snow gone and with no rain, the forest fire hazard is now high in all of eastern and southern Norway.
