Firefighters battle large forest fire in Valais

Switzerland — Firefighters are still battling to put out a large forest fire near Visp in the canton of Valais.
The fire started yesterday at an auto repair shop and quickly spread. So far its consumed 100 hectares of forest.
Three-hundred and fifty firefighters and two army helicopters were deployed, which Valais cantonal police say has stopped the flames from spreading further.
The spokesman said the local population is not in danger.
Nearly every canton has a fire ban or warning in place due to the dry conditions.
The weather forecast shows some chance of rain over the next few days.
