USA — The Utah National Guard’s 640th Regional Training Institute will conduct artillery training exercises at Camp Williams for the first time since a large September wildfire.

Training exercises will run Friday through Sunday and will affect residents of Bluffdale, Riverton, Herriman, Eagle Mountain, Saratoga Springs and Lehi between about 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day.

The same area was impacted in September during the six-square-mile Camp Williams wildfire, when three homes were destroyed after a blaze ignited by machine-gun training.

The National Guard honored three bulldozer operators who risked their lives to save dozens of homes during the fire.

Artillery exercises this weekend will not be open to the public.
