China — A forest fire has broken out in Qinhuangdao city in Hebei province. As of Wednesday noon, it had destroyed more than 466 hectares of forest.

The fire broke out at the border area of city’s Funing county and Qinglong county. More than 7,500 police, soldiers, officials and fire fighters were mobilized to battle the blaze. Three helicopters were also used to dump water on the fire.

Relocation of nearby villagers is underway while fire blocks were put up. The fire, which broke out Tuesday lunchtime, spread quickly because of strong wind and dry weather.
