181 Firefighters Joined Forest Fire Drill Training

Indonesia — To increase the capacity and professionalism of firefighter in controlling land and forest fire, Ministry of Forestry cooperating with Jakarta Fire and Disaster Management Agency (Damkar and PB) conduct fire drill training. This training is joined by 181 candidates of Manggala Agni Tactical Response Unit (SMART) officer and will be held for a month in fire drill education and training center (Pusdiklatkar-PB), Ciracas, East Jakarta.

Darori, Director General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation, said those 181 officers are representative from nine provinces in Indonesia. Besides will be trained physically, their intelligence and preparedness will be increased because SMART is a special force for forest fire. “If everyone can synergize and cooperate, I’m sure we can minimize and prevent forest fire,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Paimin Napitupulu as Head of Jakarta Damkar and PB said they will provide all facilities needed for the forest fire drill training. “We conduct this training annually. This year is the training for the fourth and fifth classes,” he stated when initiating integrated service unit (UPT) of Jakarta Damkar and PB Laboratory.

Zainal Arifin, Head of Jakarta Pusdiklatkar-PB UPT, added training participants will be trained by Jakarta Damkar and PB instructors. “The training will include cause of fire investigation, rescue techniques and search techniques in the forest,” he said.
