USA — About 200 homes have been evacuated in the foothills north of Boulder, Colo., because of a 20-acre wildfire.
The fire was burning in the Lefthand Canyon area Friday in windy conditions.
Boulder County says an air tanker from New Mexico is on its way to the fire. Once it arrives, firefighters will have to determine whether it’s too windy to fight the fire from the air.
Firefighters have also been fighting a smaller wildfire fire in nearby Lyons.
Strong winds combined with dry weather have increased the fire danger in and around the Front Range foothills.
The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning up and down the entire Interstate 25 corridor and across much of eastern Colorado. Boulder is about 30 miles northwest of Denver.
