Austria — A pensioner caused an extensive blaze by setting brushwood on fire at a forest in Upper Austria yesterday (Tues).
Police in Vöcklabruck said today the 70-year-old woman decided to burn down the deadwood in her woodland after failing to cut it into pieces to transport it home. Around 300 square metres of forestry estate were devastated by the fire, according to local fire-fighters.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old from Kazakhstan was arrested for starting a blaze in a wooden barn in Innsbruck, Tyrol. The homeless man found shelter in the building, according to police. They added the fire started after he dropped a cigarette.
