USA — One firefighter was injured while fighting a brush fire on the 500 block of Richneck Road Saturday afternoon, according to a news release.
Firefighters received the call around 12:09 p.m. and were on the scene a few minutes later.
Once on the scene, they found smoke coming from a five-acre area of Richneck Road and the Colony Pines neighborhood.
It took firefighters from Newport News, York County and Fort Eustis about two-and-a-half hours to contain the fire.
Crews are still on the scene putting out hotspots.
The fire is under investigation..
