Australia — Two Lincoln County firefighters were injured Saturday while fighting a grass fire on Interstate Highway 70 near the Smoky Hill Wind Farm.
Firefighters were dispatched from Lincoln and Ellsworth counties to the scene of an out-of-control grass fire between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Saturday, said Rod Job, Lincoln County Emergency Preparedness Director.
Two firefighters from Lincoln County were injured while fighting the blaze. They were treated for non-life threatening burns and “appeared to be in good spirits,” Job said.
The fire was contained about 5 p.m., Job said, and there was no damage reported to wind turbines at the Smoky Hill Wind Farm. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
