India / Pakistan — A major fire that raged along the line of control (LoC) in Tangdar sector of Kupwara district has spread to the other side of the dividing line.
A major fire that raged from compartment no 1, 2, 26 and 27 of Jabdi forest area in Tangdar sector of the frontier district reached the other side of the LoC last night. The fire, sources said has resulted in huge damages to wildlife besides hundreds of trees. A major operation to douse the flames in underway.
Similarly, compartment no 20, 21, 22 of Sogam and 79, and 80 of Manigah forests in Hyhama has been in the grip been engulfed by the flames that are rapidly spreading to the dense forest area.
Last week, fire also engulfed Krankun and Kamraj forest areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector of the district.
