India — A major fire broke out in three compartments in the frontier district of Kupwara while a bakery shop was reduced to ashes in the city outskirts.
Official sources said today fire broke out in three forest compartments at Tairyan and Doban in Kupwara.
They said forest, police and other officials have rushed to the spot, where the fire has badly damaged the trees due to dry weather.
The exact damage to woods was not immediately clear, they said, adding efforts are on to control the fire.
Fire also damaged a bakery shop at Shalteang in the city outskirts on Srinagar-Baramulla road. The cause of the fire was not known, they added.
