Israel —  Israel was intentionally slow in evacuating Palestinian prisoners from Damon Prison during the weekend’s massive Carmel forest fire, Palestinian Media Watch quoted PA Deputy Minister of Prisoners Ziyad Abu Ein as saying on PA television.

“They created a lag and our [Palestinian] prisoners were endangered. Had there not been Israeli criminals or Jewish prisoners in this particular prison, it would have been even slower,” Abu Ein stated.

Thirty-six members of the Israel Prison Service – the majority of whom were new recruits – where killed when their bus was engulfed in flames while en route to evacuate some 500 inmates from the prison last week.
