USA —  A five-acre area of Ohio’s only national forest is presently closed due to an underground coal fire. The fire was located by firefighters who saw a small amount of smoke coming up during a routine check at the Wayne National Forest near Nelsonville.

An emergency order closed the area on Friday. Forest officials and fire fighters fear the ground in the area may be unstable and fumes toxic.

The fire is close to the area of a April brush fire that burned over one hundred acres.
