South Africa —  R5 million has been made available to assist farmers affected by recent veld fires in the Free State. The news comes as a further 35 000 hectares were destroyed this week alone; bringing the total estimated hectares destroyed to 465 000 in the province this year. Free State Agriculture MEC met with Fire Protection Associations to address the issue of funding.
