60-Acre Brush Fire Under Control

USA —  A brush fire that began at Fort Campbell, Ky., spread to nearby Trigg County, Ky., forcing some residents out of their homes Saturday afternoon.

According to Fort Campbell spokesperson Kelly DeWitt, the fire jumped a fence and spread into a wooded area of the Roaring Springs community.

WKDZ Radio reported that some homes along Compton Road were evacuated, as about 60 acres were on fire. Several local fire departments have responded to the fire.

Emergency officials said they finally had the fire under control at about 7 p.m. Saturday.

No injuries were reported.
