USA — Smoke from Ft. Knox fires is blowing into Jefferson County.

People in Jefferson and Bullitt counties have complained about haze and smoke but all of it is from fires that started earlier this week, dispatchers in both counties said.

The fires, which are burning in training areas of Ft. Knox and on property near the post and the Knob Creek Gun Range, were contained Thursday.

Authorities said they are monitoring the fires until they burn themselves out.

A spokeswoman for the Army post has said the fires in the training areas were likely started by tracer rounds fired during military exercises.
