USA — A Carson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said farmers in the county were probably responsible for hazy smoke that generated calls to emergency numbers in Amarillo and Potter County Thursday afternoon.
She said the smoke probably came from “a number of controlled burns” in Carson County.
National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Nuttall said smoke from fires in Carson County could be detected on the agency’s satellite images.
“We’ve got real light winds out of the northeast that are pretty much bringing (the smoke) right to the city,” Nuttall said.
