Johannesburg – A homeless man was burnt on his face, arms and legs in a veld fire in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
The man in his 50s lived in the bushes near Prince Alfred Extension.
He tried to run away from the furnace, but strong winds blew the fire in the direction he was running, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.
Fifty percent of his body was burnt.
Paramedics treated him on the scene before sending him to Edendale hospital.
