Australia — The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting volunteer community educators.
Training support officer Dion Skinner says the educators give advice to landholders, local government and community groups about bushfire preparedness.
The program was introduced in response to the interim findings of the Victorian Bushfires Commission.
Mr Skinner says the educators provide a vital link between the community and professional fire fighters.
“It’s a particularly important role, they’ll be promoting and delivering bushfire preparedness and education packages throughout our area, liaise with local brigades, volunteers, and just build some good partnerships and networking amongst our country people.”
