USA — An elderly woman suffered from smoke inhalation when a grass fire approached her Ivanhoe home Tuesday, the Tulare County Fire Department reported.

The woman was evacuated from the Avenue 296 home, which also contained a large dog, cat and two chickens, according to a report. Smoke and fire did an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to the structure and $5,000 damage to the contents, officials said.

The woman was not identified. A metal building near the home sustained minor damage, officials said.

The 3:30 p.m. fire burned about 8 acres of grass and wooden fence posts. The cause is under investigation.
