Nepal — Three persons were killed in the fire while more than 50 houses were burnt to ashes in the past 24 hours across the nation.

Three persons, including a pregnant woman, were killed in a blaze in Damachaur of Salyan district on Thursday night. The deceased have been identified as Hira Pun, 35, Chitra Pun, 17, and the pregnant woman, Rashmi Pun. Hira and Chitra were killed on spot while Rashmi breathed her last while undergoing treatment at a health facility in Sitalpati of Salyan district this morning. Injured Sarita Pun, 35, and Khagendra Pun, 5, have been undergoing treatment in Sitalpati. Five houses were burnt to ashes in the fire.

A team headed by Salyan CDO Narayan Acharaya has set off for the blaze site to distribute relief.

In another incident, 24 houses and a shed were destroyed in an inferno in Wards No 3 and 4 of Narainapur VDC of Rapti district across the Rapti River. According to Madhav Shrestha, Banke DSP, the fire broke out in the kitchen of one of the houses in the area around 11 am. It could be brought under control only at 5 pm with the joint efforts of the police and locals.

Banke police said property worth Rs 6.5 million was gutted in the incident. A local Islam Kha informed that the blaze had rendered 125 people homeless.

District Administration Office and Nepal Red Cross Society will distribute relief materials to the victims tomorrow.

A fire that had been raging in the Hadikharka Community Forest of Dhankuta Municipality was brought under control this evening.
