United Kingdom — DELIBERATELY-started grass fires in Staffordshire soared by 46 per cent last month.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it responded to 200 blazes started deliberately over the two-week Easter period.
Head of Risk Reduction, Ian Sloss said: Were extremely shocked at the massive increase in grass fires.
Grass fires are not only damaging to the environment, in particular wildlife, they are also a drain on our resources.
For every grass fire that we deal with, it means that firefighters are not available to attend other incidents, some of which could be life threatening.
