India — In yet another job well done, timely action by the troops of 88 Battalion BSF averted a possible loss of huge property at Langol forest behind BSF camp Koirengei from a wild fire.
A statement of the BSF said that at about 12:16 noon today troops deployed on the hill top noticed a wild-fire breaking out on the hillocks of the villages of Losembom and Mao and the fire that engulf about square 2km of the area, and was spreading towards the villages.
However well equipped BSF personnels rushed, cordoned and controlled the fire at 12:21 noon in a courageous effort, it said.
The fire seemingly flared from burning activities for the jhum cultivation and the inferno raged fast due to dry weather and windy condition.
Forester and civilians also joined the BSF to control the fire aiding and expediting and action of the BSF troops and forest officials preventing further losses and damages of the Langol forest and the environment was prevented, the statement added.
