Woman Who Started Wildfire Sentenced: Could Be Out of Jail Soon

USA — A Los Molinos woman who started a 1,200 acre wildfire last summer has been sentenced to a year in jail. Brenda Eitzen was sentenced Wednesday for starting the Coffin Fire outside Lewiston in Trinity County in August. The 60-year-old was credited with more than 300 days already served and will likely be released from jail soon. She will the have to serve three years probation and register as an arson offender. Eitzen” started the 1,200 acre fire when she discarded a lit cigarette in dry brush.
