USA — The fire activity at the Kealakekua Mauka brush fire in the Kona area remains stable and limited to hot spots and smoldering fires well within the fire breaks and perimeter, the Fire Department reported Friday.

Crews were on scene Friday continuing mop-up and extinguishing efforts and were to remain on scene throughout the night, with operations resuming today. The weather conditions have been favorable with light winds reported on the fire scene.

The operations continue to be supported by personnel and resources of the Hawaii Fire Department, Kamehameha Schools/Bishop Estate and Forest Solutions, as well as commercial resources from various contractors.
