Australia —

Australia’s ABC television network reports that at least three people were injured on Thursday while battling bushfires.

More than 70 fires were burning across the state of New South Wales.

The bushfire near Sydney came closest to properties and destroyed at least one house, sheds and a caravan.

Some 200 firefighters, supported by several aircraft, fought to protect properties in the area.

One elderly man suffered from burns to his body while trying to defend his property near Albury.

Two others were reportedly taken to a hospital, suffering from burns.

The population in the area has been alerted and may need to take immediate action.
