USA — Federal and state agencies are looking to hire people to fight wildfires next year.
Wildland firefighting positions will become available with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service and Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. Jan. 10 is the deadline to apply for the jobs, which run May through September.
Applicants must be able to endure considerable exertion while working in rough, uneven terrain covered with trees, brush, rocks and debris. Firefighters wear backpacks and carry gear weighing more than 45 pounds, and they must be able to bend and lift heavy objects.
