USA — Three Westview High School students are facing charges for intentionally starting a brush fire in the Bethany area outside of Portland.

KATU caught the scene of the alleged arson from Jet Ranger 2 last Monday. The fire at one point threatened homes and a playground off Energia Street.

Deputies said the teens admitted going to the park to smoke marijuana. While doing so, they said they started several small fires in the brush for entertainment.

The fire grew nearly out of control from there until fire fighters were able to suppress it.
