USA —

Los Angeles County prosecutors say it could take two weeks before they decide whether to file arson charges against a 13-year-old boy suspected of starting a 2,100-acre wildfire near Los Angeles.

District attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison (ROH’-bih-son) says the case submitted by the Sheriff’s Department is under review but prosecutors want to see a few more reports. She says there’s no legal hurry because the boy isn’t in custody.

The Sheriff’s Department hasn’t released the name of the teen they believe set last month’s blaze in the Angeles National Forest. No homes were damaged.

Another arson fire that erupted a day later in the forest burned 89 homes but authorities have not accused the boy of involvement in that blaze.
