Canada — A handful of homes west of Lillooet have been evacuated as the Mount McLean forest fire rages nearby.
The evacuation order and a local state of emergency were issued yesterday as the forest fire grew to 10-square kilometres.
It remains uncontained.
Affected properties are along the northeast shore of Seton Lake, closest to Lillooet.
Meanwhile, it was a tense weekend for people living northwest of Salmon Arm as they were placed on evacuation alert as a wildfire broke out Saturday.
But forestry crews wasted no time knocking down the five hectare Sunnybrae-Tappen fire, just north of Salmon Arm.
At its height, nearly 200 homes and businesses were placed on evacuation alert — and that alert remains in place — but the blaze is now 100 per cent contained.
Mop up of the fire continues as officials try to determine a cause.
