Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry: Danger of fire increased in forests

In connection with hot and dry weather in Azerbaijan, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry calls on people to be cautious with fire and obey fire safety rules. The ministrys press service told APA that in connection with hot and dry weather danger of fire increased in the forests and green areas not included into the state forest fund. To prevent danger of fire in the forests and green areas not included into the state forest fund, in line with the law on Fire safety the ministry is taking prophylactic measures this year. In accordance with the joint action plan prepared by the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations, trainings were held with participation of forest security engineers, foresters, fire guard. 671km mineral strips were constructed, 595km old strips were repaired in the areas with danger of fire. The Ministrys central and local structures organized duties in the Forest Security and Restoration Facilities supplied with technical equipment, created mineral strips around forests. It minimized the number of forest fires in the country compared with the previous years. But despite this, sometimes farmers and individuals burn stubble-fields and greenery along the roads.
