USA —

In stark contrast from the surrounding charred hillsides, one home was virtually untouched by the Jesusita Fire. They credit preparation and a set of sprinklers on the roof. These sprinklers saturated the area for about a 50 foot radius around the house to create a challenge like trying to light a match in your shower.

Although it was under mandatory evacuation, the homeowners never left their home, even when flames reached their own backyard.

Fire crews commended the couple for saving their home but don’t recommend others do the same.
